Michelle Houwen joined St Mary’s in 1998 as the school accountant when her daughter commenced kindergarten. She then moved to St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls where she spent 11 years as business manager before returning to St Mary’s as director of finance and administration in 2016 and later as director of business operations.
Ms Houwen began her career in the banking and mining/engineering industries before moving into education and completing her Masters of Business Administration.
She has served on numerous committees within the education sector, including as national president of the Association of School Business Administrators and president of the AISWA Capital Grants Association.
