First LNG18 in 2016, then www.2017

Perth's crowded events calendar is set to accommodate another major conference, with more than 1,000 delegates set to attend the World Wide Web conference in 2017.

Guests at the five-day conference will include the inventor of the World Wide Web, British computer scientist Sir Tim Berners-Lee. 

It comes as the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre prepares to host the LNG18 conference in 2016, which is set to be the biggest exhibition Perth has ever hosted in terms of number of delegates and exhibitors, as well as its direct economic impact.

More than 6,000 guests are expected to attend LNG18, which the Perth Convention Bureau estimates will have a direct economic impact on the state of $10.4 million.

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Congress next year is meanwhile expected to deliver a direct economic impact of $7.4 million.

Perth Convention Bureau chief executive Paul Beeson said Perth's successful bid to host the World Wide Web event was the result of years of negotiations.

"We are delighted to be holding such a significant event in Perth," he said.

"The opportunity to facilitate knowledge transfer, along with delivering economic and social benefits to Western Australia is substantial."
