Greenland Minerals and Energy awards contract

Subiaco-based Greenland Minerals and Energy has awarded a competitive tender to a North American-based firm with a Perth office, for detailed engineering design aspects of a feasibility study for its Kvanefjeld rare earth elements project in Greenland.

Engineering firm Tetra Tech, which has an annual turnover of $US3 billion, bought Perth-based Proteus EPCM Engineers in 2011.

Greenland Minerals and Energy managing director Roderick McIllree said liaising through two Perth locations would ensure a smooth working interface.

Proteus director David Sutton said the scale and quality of the resources at Greenfield Minerals and Energy’s flagship rare-earth uranium and zinc project made it a major mining project in global terms.

Tetra Tech Proteus’ study will include civil, electrical, mechanical and structural design of the process facilities and is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Greenland’s share price was down 3.26 per cent at 0.089 at 2pm WST.
