Hong Kong developer to build Northbridge hotel

Hong Kong’s Infinity Capital Group will launch a $14 million apartment hotel featuring a Michelin star chef-led rooftop restaurant in Northbridge midway through next year, after the 12-storey project was approved by the City of Perth.

ICG acquired 8 Parker Street in Northbridge earlier this year, signing local architecture and development group Baltinas to design TELLUS on Parker, a 42-room luxury hotel which will be ICG’s first Australian project.

Baltinas managing director Barry Baltinas said the hotel would also feature a rooftop pool, with glass panel walls visible from the street.

Mr Baltinas said additional features would be a cafe and a bar on the building’s lower floors, with an outdoor alfresco area overlooking Russell Square.

“This world-class development is another vote of confidence for Perth’s hotel market and will be something different for the city,” he said.

“We are proud to contribute to Tellus’ vision and expansion into Australia and look forward to creating an outstanding piece of architecture in Parker Street amongst its eclectic mix of modern boutiques, hip eateries and upscale bars.”

ICG’s portfolio spans across several Asian cities, with ICG developments located in Singapore, Thailand and Japan.

Construction of TELLUS on Parker is expected to begin in May, with the building to be completed by late 2021.

ICG chief executive Jonathan Cheng said TELLUS on Parker would be a significant milestone for the company,

“With this approval now sorted, we are very excited as this project is the Group’s first expansion of the TELLUS brand in Australia.”
