The company raised over $12 million as part of its float, and its shares closed up over 30 per cent on its first day of trading.
HotCopper’s newly public status makes second ranked Optika Solutions this fortnight’s highest trending unlisted company.
The software development company was recognised at the Australian Information Industry Association iAwards, winning the national innovation award and Big Data Innovation of the Year for its decision support software, Akumen.
“Winning the 2016 iAwards Innovation of the Year for Akumen was a thrill for the whole team at Optika Solutions,” Optika managing director Matthew Schneider said.
“While we have been around for a decade, not many people knew about us due to the nature of our work and the confidentiality agreements that go with it.”
Optika will travel to Taipei later this year to compete in the international Asia Pacific ICT Awards.
Nuheara is ranked third, scoring strong mindshare points across social media and news outlets.
The company, which makes the intelligent wireless earbuds called IQbuds, was also honoured at the iAwards, as a runner up in the consumer category.
6Q reveals new product features
Employee feedback startup 6Q has announced new features for their employee survey tools.
In particular, the app now features automated assessments panels, which look at data collected across a workforce and compares it against previous polls and 6Q’s global benchmarks.
Cynata in talks with Fujifilm
Shares in healthtech Cynata Therapeutics soared following its announcement it is in talks with Japan’s Fujifilm Corporation.
The two companies have executed a term sheet for the development and commercialisation of Cynata’s stem cell technology.
Cynata expects an agreement to be finalised in the fourth quarter of 2016. In addition, in the event of a deal Fujifilm would acquire US$3 million of Cynata shares at a 35 per cent premium to the share price.
Secure2Go tracks vehicle locations
Internet of Things startup Secure2Go has developed a solution to help car dealerships locate their vehicles at any time.
The solution is known as SECUREdrive, and uses connected technology with independent power and communications.
“Our technology is all about improving efficiency and giving peace of mind. Dealerships will have a number of vehicles which all look the same and SECUREdrive will enable them to identify and locate each one quickly and easily,” Secure2Go managing director Wes Lawrence said.
“Having this kind of information available to a business in a very simple and cost effective manner, helps them to better manage their resources and operations more effectively.”
DreamDesk brings virtual reality to the desktop
We AR VR has announced the early access release of DreamDesk Beta, a virtual reality application for desktop PCs.
The app allows users to break out applications from their desktop into a 360° VR environment, without the need for additional display hardware.
“People don’t like sudden change,” said Pooja Mathew, managing director of the indie software development company.
“VR is threatening to disrupt everything they do, force them to re-learn skills they already have. DreamDesk is an easy way to adapt the software and processes people currently use to VR with no additional development or learning curve.”
