The chief executive of Surf Life Saving Western Australia has been named as the man to take over leadership of Lotterywest.
Paul Andrew was this morning announced as the new chief executive following the imminent departure of Jan Stewart, who has been Lotterywest’s chief executive for nearly 23 years and an employee since 1987.
Ms Stewart will leave the organisation in December before Mr Andrew takes up the role in February.
In making the announcement, Premier Colin Barnett said Mr Andrew’s experience would bode well for Lotterywest.
“Paul has more than 30 years’ experience in both Government and the not-for-profit sector in WA during which time he has built a strong commitment to the community and a proven record of establishing, nurturing and sustaining important relationships with the community, clients and stakeholders,” he said.
“He has displayed a strong commercial focus in all of his roles.”
Before joining Surf Life Saving WA, which reported annual turnover of $10.2 million in 2013-14, Mr Andrew was the director of corporate services at St John of God Health Care Murdoch and also held and executive role at the Catholic Education Office WA.
He is also a director of the Western Australian Sports Federation and member of the Australian Human Resources Institute.
Under Ms Stewart’s guidance, Lotterywest has become an organisation turning over more than $850 million in revenue per year.
Ms Stewart has told Business News she is taking the opportunity to explore other ventures with her corporate leadership experience, which has included joining the boards of not-for-profit organisations such as Save the Children.
She is also exploring opportunities with MercyCare and St Bartholomew’s House.
