The startup, which allows consumers to trade surplus electricity directly with other consumers, has signed a deal with New Zealand network operator Vector, which will see it reaching 500 solar households, schools and community groups in Auckland.
The company scored high in mindshare with strong social media engagement, press coverage and web rankings, and received several nominations from Techboard’s panel of Experts.
Second most trending company of the fortnight was migme. The social media company announced it had raised $10 million from a range of investors including Foxconn and the ‘Instagram of China’, Meitu.
Shark Mitigation Systems, ranked third, was in the press yet again, following its negotiations to supply the state government with at least five Clever Buoys.
The shark detection technology uses sonar technology to detect shark-sized objects in coastal waters.
Two startups in the top 20 were winners (western region) of EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award, SEQTA (ranked fourth) and DownUnder GeoSolutions (ranked 16th).
SEQTA provides schools with a learning management system which allows the school to communicate key information with students and parents.
Another award winner was respiratory disease solution ResApp Health (ranked fifth).
The health-tech was one of five grand final winners of the Talent Unleashed awards, and will receive a trip to Silicon Valley where they will attend a technology conference and spend one-on-one time with Steve Wozniak at an exclusive reception.
Mum’s the word
Mum marketplace Jugglr has reached over 2,000 active users across Australia in its first four weeks of operation.
Jugglr is a mobile application connecting mums with a network of trusted mothers willing to help in their local area.
To celebrate the milestone, the startup is offering $10 off for the first 1,000 paid transactions through the platform.
Techboard looks east
Startup platform Techboard has announced a partnership with Sydney-based Startup Soda.
The partnership will provide the two media companies with cross-marketing opportunities, and will allow Techboard to grow its audience in the eastern states as it works towards an imminent national expansion.
Startup Soda is a daily newsletter which curates content from Australian startups, founders and VCs.
Techboard has also partnered with TechInvest Magazine, a quarterly publication focusing on investment opportunities in technology companies, and has recruited a state manager in Sydney to extend its coverage of startups to include NSW companies.
Pointerra in partnership agreements
Pointerra has signed a strategic partnership agreement with NGIS, one of Australia's leading geospatial companies.
The partnership will see both companies work together to develop and market Pointerra’s 3D point cloud integration and viewing solutions, for geospatial applications from leading vendors including Esri and Google.
In a busy fortnight, Pointerra has also lodged its second patent application, and signed an agreement with Curtin University to develop advanced 3D point cloud analytics.
