Record grain rebate: CBH

Western Australia’s grain handling cooperative CBH Group has announced a record $4.55 per tonne growers’ rebate after a year of strong harvest last financial year.

The rebate is made against storage and handling charges, including an $0.85 operations rebate, a $0.40 investment rebate and a $3.30 marketing and trading rebate.

The cooperative markets around 50 per cent of the state's grain production.

CBH chairman Wally Newman said it was the biggest ever rebate under the program.

“I am extremely proud that the CBH Group is able to provide such a significant contribution to growers this year,” he said.

“The marketing and trading rebate can be made when substantial volumes of grain are marketed by CBH, which enables us to lower our costs per tonne. 

“We traded 10 million tonnes last year, so we want to hand that value back to our growers and say thanks.

“The operations rebate has been made possible because of the outstanding harvest we had in 2013-14, storing and moving almost 16 million tonnes. 

“The investment rebate is made possible through the returns from our investments in flour milling in South-East Asia.

“CBH is constantly looking at avenues to return value to growers and our rebate program is a great example of the way we can do this when we can make a return at any point through our supply chain."

Growers will receive the credit against charges for the upcoming harvest.
