Rosair to exit regions DG post

Department of Regional Development director-general Paul Rosair will step down from the post later this year after spearheading the Royalties for Regions scheme for the past five years. 

Mr Rosair reached the decision to quit his post at an employee performance meeting with Regional Development Minister Terry Redman last week.

He will finish up with the department on June 30, having led it since its inception in 2009.

Mr Redman, who was granted the regional development portfolio when he replaced Brendon Grylls as leader of the Nationals earlier this year, said it had been mutually determined that new leadership was needed at the department. 

"After five years in the role, it was decided that a change of leadership was necessary to drive the next chapter of Royalties for Regions," Mr Redman said.

"Mr Rosair has made a significant contribution to the development of regional Western Australia and I wish him well in his future endeavours."

"We will now begin the task of finding a replacement for the position and expect there will be a high level of interest in the role."

Several other key government departments are also in the hunt for permanent executives, including the Department of Treasury and the Department of Health.
