The state government has announced Satterley Group as its preferred partner to develop around 3,000 new homes in the northern half of the new suburb of Eglinton.
Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said first land was expected to be released to the market in 2014.
The 120 hectare parcel of land is located two kilometres from the coast, east of the newly-extended Marmion Avenue.
Under terms of the development agreement, Satterley will finalise a Local Structure Plan for the total 240 hectares of land available for development at Eglinton, and also manage the development of the northern half.
Mr Grylls the government and Satterley would aim to develop a diverse range of accommodation to meet the mandated priorities of increased density and affordable living.
“They have demonstrated the ability to produce residential developments that can cater for young couples and families incorporating affordable land and housing options without compromising on quality,” he said
“It is important that the development partner can deliver land quickly to the market while adhering to the strict design and environmental requirements of the project and SPG has the previous experience to meet these requirements.”
