The state government has kicked off an international search for a project director to head up content and operations at Western Australia’s new $428 million museum.
Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said the project director would join the existing museum’s executive team and report to chief executive Alec Coles.
The new museum project is a collaboration between WA Museum, the Department of Finance’s strategic projects division and the Department of Culture and the Arts.
Two creative director positions will also be advertised in coming weeks, Mr Day said.
“This is an important juncture at which to join the Western Australian Museum team as it sets about delivering a new museum for the state,” Mr Day said in a statement.
“This project provides a unique opportunity to deliver a new world-class museum for WA which will be an integral part of Perth’s continuing cultural transformation.”
The new museum will be built at the Perth Cultural Centre and is scheduled to open in 2019-2020.
