New figures have shown that new car sales for Western Australia have fallen behind many states for the year, despite a mini-revival in April.

The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries figures show that Victoria led the way for April, with 2981 sales leading to a 15.8 per cent increase for the month, whilst Queensland rallied from a poor start to the year of just 2.1 per cent growth to increase its monthly sales by 13 per cent (2202 new vehicles).
Manufacturer Toyota again topped the list for April, selling 2,333 new vehicles, while Holden faltered with a 16.5 per cent drop for the month contributing to their 8.4 per cent downturn for the year.
Overall, new sales increased in April by 11.2 per cent nation wide, with industry officials pointing to Easter scheduling, the mining boom and easing of the drought as possible reasons for the bumper month.
