The Not-for-profit Forum is designed to provide you with practical advice on how to integrate governance and risk management within your organisation at both an operational and strategic level.

The Forum will be structured in two parts. Part one will comprise of current and topical issues with topics such as; Governance in the Not-for-profit (NFP) sector, Consolidation of NFP's, Developing and implementing an investment strategy for reserve funds, Creating a risk culture and What do corporates expect when sponsoring a Not-for-profit ? Part two will provide a high level governance workshop Not-for-profit Officers, Directors and the Board. You will receive comprehensive materials, a detailed workbook, technical guides, an option to test your knowledge online and a guided presentation and discussion.

Sheila is also a member of the national advisory body to the ACNC, vice chair of the peak association WANADA the CCI’s Health and Community Services Forum. She is a former Member of Parliament (12 years) and a Cabinet Minister for eight years. During this time she held a range of portfolios including Tourism, Consumer Protection, Community Development, Culture and the Arts, Disability Services. Sheila is a member of Governance Institutes WA State Council.

Opening speaker - David Gilchrist, Director, Curtin Not-for-profit Initiative
David has held a number of senior roles in the Not-for-profit and public sectors and, most recently, was Assistant Auditor General for Western Australia. Early in 2011, David was appointed to the position of Industry Professor within the School of Accounting at Curtin University where he researches in the areas of government and not-for-profit performance, regulation, governance, accounting and economic history. He has published in all these fields academically and has contributed pieces of journalism to a number of professional journals including Company Director. He has been president of WACOSS and was a director of the Anglican Schools Commission. He is also Chairman of Nulsen Disability Services.

Additional masters of governance and risk management practice will provide you with tips, tools and techniques to ensure you are well-equipped to apply your knowledge in practice.
