Avertas Energy is developing Australia’s first thermal waste-to-energy facility.

Avertas is a co-development between Macquarie Capital and Phoenix Energy and is owned by Macquarie Capital and Dutch Infrastructure Fund (DIF). It has received support from the Australian Government through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).

Construction of its Kwinana plant commenced in March 2019. The plant will process 400,000 tonnes of waste per annum, as well as generating and exporting 36 megawatts of green electricity.
